In this note, we show how the cross-correlation pattern of certain classes of linear PN sequences may be determined and described as a linear shift register sequence. Knowledge of the location of the correlation sidelobes may then be exploited in the application of these codes to spread spectrum communication systems. As an example of such an application, a characterization of the relative phase of a received code in terms of the pattern of cross-correlation sidelobes with a locally generated code is presented.Sponsors
