Missiles, rockets, and satellites need as much uniform gain as possible to provide continuous telemetry coverage. The theoretical limit of an ideal antenna would be 0 dB gain with 100 percent coverage of 4π steradians. It is not practical to attain the theoretical limit in practice on missiles, rockets, and satellites. This paper describes how closely the theoretical limit can be approached.Sponsors
