ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Founded in 1938, by José Pagés Llergo, Rotofoto was a ground breaking Mexican photo magazine. Modeled on the newly formed Life magazine. Rotofoto sought to visually document Mexican political life and national events. Photographs from some of Mexico’s best known photographers of the time period, Ismael Casasola, Enrique Diaz, Antonio Carrillo, among others were featured within the pages of the magazine. The life of the magazine was short lived with 11 issues being published with the last issue being distributed in July 1938.
